Pelvic & Abdominal Pain

Abdominal Pain

There can be many causes of abdominal pain that could come from the gastrointestinal track, major organs, vascular structures, or nerves in the body. Our physicians will evaluate the patient to determine which imaging might be appropriate to evaluate this pain and whether other specialists need to be involved. Some patients are referred to us by gastroenterologists and oncologists for nerve blocks, called sympathetic nerve blocks that can help with certain types of abdominal pain. This pain may be caused by pancreatitis, various cancers, or damaged nerves of the abdominal wall.

Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain can have a variety of sources that include both pelvic structures and the lumbar spine. Our physicians will evaluate the patient to determine which imaging might be appropriate to evaluate this pain and whether other specialists need to be involved. Endometriosis is a condition that causes chronic pain correlating with menstrual cycles. Advanced therapies such as spinal cord stimulation has been used successfully in managing chronic pelvic pain. In some instances, referred muscle pain from the lumbar spine can cause pain wrapping into the hips. Pelvic and groin pain can also be confused with other conditions such as hip arthritis or sacroiliac joint pain.
